[득템!] 나이 많으신 으원님을 모시고.. Glashütte Original

최근 드레스워치가 하나 더 필요해졌습니다. 

그래서 어떤 걸 들여야하나... 매우 고민이 많이 되었습니다만, 

의외로 그 고민은 길게 가지 않았습니다. 

독일에서 오신 상원의원님(Senator) 한분을 모실 수 있게 되었거든요. ㅎㅎㅎ

우연찮은 기회였는데, 이 으원님을 모시고 보니 좀 많이 궁금해졌습니다. 그래서 해외 포럼에도 문의해보니 좋은 자료가 많이 나오더군요. 

지금에서야 으원님이라고 그냥 부르긴 하지만, 95년 발표했을 당시에는 수동시계라는 뜻의 "Handaufzug" 라고 불렸다고 합니다. 

25.6mm 크기에 3.6mm 두께의 수동무브가 적용된 시계로 크기는 36mm 두께는 8.3mm 정도 됩니다. 

클래식한 모양의 작고 얇은 드레스워치이죠. 

95년 당시에는 글라슈테 오리지날이 아마도 고급시계 브랜드로 확실하게 자리매김하지는 않았을 때였나봅니다. 

12-50 무브먼트에 특별히 뛰어난 코스메팅 피니싱이 들어가있지는 않습니다만,

20년이 지난 지금도 훌륭하게 시간은 잘 맞네요. 

수동으로 데이트 창이 있는 시계는 처음 차보는듯 한데, 

매일매일 일상에서 착용하기에는 참 좋은 무브먼트와 시계인듯 합니다. 

본래는 파랗게 구워졌던 핸즈들도 세월이 지남에 따라 보라색으로 멋스럽게 바뀌었습니다. 

처음에는 원래 이런 보라색 핸즈 시계인줄 알았는데, 위의 자료를 찾아보니 원래는 블루핸즈였더군요. 

그리고 아래는 재미있어서 찾아본 설명입니다. 스틸을 파랗게 구운 뒤, 왜 그리고 어떻게 보라색이나 기타 색깔로 시간이 지나면서 바뀔 수 있는가에 대한것입니다. 

The "bluing" process used on [steel] is actually a very controlled oxidation (rusting) process that, through a combination of high pH (alkaline) and using nitrate as an oxidant, creates a thin layer of a specific oxide of iron - hematite (Fe2O3) - that is hard, airtight and prevents oxidation (rusting) of the underlying iron or steel. I put "bluing" in quotes because hematite is actually black, but the combination of polish and oil give it a blue tint. 

As [other forumer] stated, the problem is that steel is not 100% (if it was, it wouldn't be "steel"); some of the alloying elements can cause unusual colors when the steel is "blued". Nickel steels weren't a problem, since nickel III oxide is also black, as is manganese IV oxide and cobalt III oxide - other common alloying elements in steel. The two common alloying elements that have oxides that aren't black are chromium (Cr III oxide is green) and molybdenum (Mo IV oxide is brownish-purple - sound familiar? - and Mo VI is yellow or light blue, depending on pH). 

The iron oxide (hematite) formed by the "bluing" process is an example of passivation, the formation of an oxide coating that is resistant to further oxidation, unlike the common "red rust" that is considered an "active" oxide. Molybdenum doesn't form a "passive" oxide under the conditions of "bluing", so the molybdenum in the alloy continues to (slowly) oxidize, making the normally black coating more and more brownish-purple.

블루핸즈의 색이 바뀔 수 있다는것도 새로웠지만, 세월이 핸즈에 연륜을 묻혀서 더 독특하게 되었다는 점이 더욱 마음에 드는 부분이네요. 

보면 볼수록 매력적인 으원님입니다. ㅎㅎㅎ
